BOYCOTT CINEMARK

The CEO of Cinemark Theaters, Alan Stock, gave $9,999 to the anti-gay marriage Prop 8 proposal in California (which passed).

Let's send them a message, people. When you go to the movies, give Circle Cinema a chance or, at the least, another multiplex that ISN'T run by a gay-hating bigot.

REPOST IF YOU AGREE. Maybe enough people will get on board to make them think twice about funding hate again.

Tales of Midnight Nazis

I have two cats in the animal hospital under observation for poisoning. I am sick with a head cold I cannot shake. I am getting sued for medical bills I cannot afford to pay. I am 34 and have level 4 hypertension. And my own mother is burying me with judgment because I would rather take my cats to the vet than let them die because I can't even afford my own medical bills.

Yet somehow.... right now, I don't give a toss. Because I'm positively glowing after experiencing Obama's acceptance speech tonight.

I don't live under an illusion that this election will change my life in any major way. What gives me hope is the fact that - after so many years of dusty old men strangling the life out of our nation - FINALLY the good guy won. There is hope for humanity, even if it's just a glimmer, and I didn't feel this way when I woke up this morning.

I sit here on my balcony breathing the cool, crisp air. Yes, I think, maybe I was a bit too harsh in my general disdain for humanity when I awoke this morning. A small weight is lifted in my soul... I feel this for just a moment, and then ....

Two of my neighbors stumble through the courtyard, drunken, shouting for everyone in earshot to witness.

"I hate niggers!"

"I hate niggers!"

My Strange Evening in Hell

Somehow I've managed to avoid seeing the local 'hell house' production of "Nightmare,' which is a horror-themed Christian evangelizing event held in Tulsa, OK, until this very year.

After hearing about it for years and watching the interesting documentary 'Hell House,' I was finally coerced into going by Jennifer. Shame on her. LOL

Thinly disguised as a fun, 'Spookhouse for Christians,' the event reaffirms my disdain for radical religion. Two thick 'security guards' lead you through a series of different rooms, each depicting a different 'sin.' Demons abound, and the depiction of hell vaguely resembles a goth's night-club wet dream. The rape/revenge/suicide room stands out as a particular nasty reflection on the people who attend these radical, youth-centric churches. Any parent that would allow her 15-year-old daughter to 'work' for the churches event as a rape victim who then blows her brains out - over and over - for thousands of strangers each day - should have their heads examined and a visit from DHS.

Anyway, all in good fun. I enjoyed it for what it was. No surprises. Go watch 'Hell House' if you want to see how these things began.

Happy Halloween

The Fundamentalist Meme Was Propagated by an Oil Millionaire

In 1909, "The Fundamentals A Testimony to the Truth," which is highly regarded as the foundation of the fundamentalist movement, was anonymously funded by Lyman Stewart, President of Union Oil and multi-multi-millionaire.

Create your own inferences. Have a good day.

So...

By some strange twist of fate, I'm sitting in a large movie theater, sipping on root beer and about to watch Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece.... The Shining.

Best day of my year.

My new positronic brain looks curiously like the monolith from 2001! Notice the little sufi and Buddha celebrating in the background. Lol

Weekend Road Trip - Eureka Springs (w/ Video)

This weekend, I woke up early on a Saturday - a rare thing. I decided on a whim to take a solo road trip to Eureka Springs, our little 'swiss village' in the Ozarks. This place has always attracted me to its magic. Creative energy seeps from every rock, crevice and shop window. Basin Park is always teeming with artistic minds. I would live there if I could afford to!

My impulsive little trip also was (hopefully) to include a visit with a friend, but she was not available, so I meandered around, snapping videos, smiling at tourists, and enjoying a few food items along the way. Late afternoon I indulged in a couple of Vodka Tonics, talked to some bikers, and simply relaxed.

Here's a little video I made to chronicle the journey. Enjoy :)
